Hvar walking distance
If you want to take it easy on your first day, it would be best to explore the local gems. Take a walk around Hvar town where you will see Hvar’s theatre, the oldest public theatre in Europe. Hvar historical Theatre is located on the second floor of the Arsenal building, built as a maintenance shipyard. A 5-minute walk from the center will take you to the Franciscan monastery founded in the 15th century. Get lost in the small alleyways that hide many local artisans and craft shops, fashion boutiques and art galleries. After exploring, it is time to take it easy; have a nice seaside walk, or visit one of the beach bar. Take a glass of wine or local prošek, grab a bite to eat and enjoy one of the best sunsets in the world.

1) Hvar Fortress -Fortica
Climb up to this 16th-century fortress for stunning panoramic views of Hvar Town, the Adriatic Sea, and the nearby Pakleni Islands. It’s a great spot for sunset views.2)

7) Hvar Arsenal and Theatre
Visit the Europe’s oldest public theater (from y. 1612), located above the town’s Arsenal. This historic site built in the early 17th century and still hosts cultural events.
8) Red Rocks Excursion
Take a day trip to the nearby – 8 km east of the town of Hvar, nature attraction. Layers of lime-stone, between which were once layers of breccia, have risen vertically in ancient geological history of Hvar. The softer breccia layers were washed out by the rain and sea, creating the vertical hollows of a reddish colour that today appears as a gigantic organ streaming from the bottom of the sea.

11) Sveti Nikola Peak

Visit Hvar’s iconic lavender fields, particularly near the village of Brusje and Velo Grablje, for a sensory experience filled with the fragrance and beauty of lavender. June and July are the best months to see the fields in full bloom.

Also there is „Via Ferrata Hvar“ that starts above steep vineyards of Sveta Nedjelja and rises all the way to the top of the highest island peak, the Sveti Nikola (626m).
14) Visit the Benedictine Monastery
to learn more about the history and process of agave lace-making. The nuns display examples of their work, and in museum there is the opportunity to purchase lace products as unique souvenirs or gifts. (UNESCO protected -on the list as a cultural intangible asset.)
15) Visit -Ivan Vučetić Museum of Mystery
The museum is an interpretation center dedicated to one of the most important pioneers of forensic science. He is the first man that used fingerprints to solve crimes.
