Exhibition Opening and Catalogue Launch at Arsenal Gallery
On Friday, May 15th 2026, at 8 PM, the Arsenal Gallery in Hvar will host the opening of the exhibition “TRACES OF TIME”, accompanied by the presentation of the catalogue of the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art of the Hvar Heritage Museum.
Organized in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the Hvar Gallery of Paintings, the exhibition presents a representative selection of artworks from the museum’s rich modern and contemporary art collection.
A Dialogue Between Generations of Artists
Through four thematic sections:
- Figure and Body
- Space and Landscape
- Construction and Geometry
- Inner Worlds and Abstraction
the exhibition creates a dialogue between different generations of artists while exploring the evolving relationships between form, memory, and continuity in modern and contemporary art.
The selected works provide insight into artistic movements and aesthetic transformations that shaped contemporary visual expression while emphasizing the cultural heritage of Hvar.
Catalogue Presentation
Alongside the exhibition opening, visitors will also attend the presentation of the book:
“Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art of the Hvar Heritage Museum – Catalogue”
The catalogue was prepared by senior curator Dejanira Burmas Domančić, who is also the curator and author of the exhibition concept.
