One of the longest-running theatre plays in Croatia, “The Life of St. Lawrence “, will be revived in front of the Franciscan Monastery in Hvar, on Wednesday, July 23. july at 9:30 pm, performed by members of the Hvar Amateur Theatre Group (in croatian language).

This exceptional play, conceived and directed almost half a century ago by Marin Carić, then a young Hvar native and student of directing, has become a true theatre treasure. Since its first performance in 1978, it has been performed by numerous generations of amateur actors from the island, and with an ensemble of around twenty performers, there is hardly a family from Hvar that has not left its mark on this unique project.

“The Life of St. Lawrence” is not just a stage play – it is a living story of togetherness, dedication and artistic passion. This stylized and poetically powerful play conveys a message of faith, moral strength and sacrifice for ideals – a message that transcends time and space.

The play has become one of the most awarded works of Croatian amateur theatre and a symbol of the cultural identity of the town of Hvar.

Join us for this special evening under the starry sky – let the power of words, movement and faith lead you into a theatrical experience that inspires and connects.
