The Šaltin Folklore Society was founded with the aim of researching, preserving and presenting the island’s rich folklore heritage through traditional songs, dances and costumes.
In addition to the cultural heritage of the island of Hvar, the society also nurtures the folklore traditions of the wider Dalmatian region and other parts of Croatia, preserving customs and passing them on to future generations.
Over the years, Šaltin has become an essential participant in cultural and tourist events throughout the town and island of Hvar. The society has taken part in numerous island, regional, national and international folklore festivals, primarily presenting the traditional heritage of Hvar.
Their performances have accompanied many cultural programmes, including celebrations, concerts, exhibitions, tourism presentations and official ceremonies in Croatia and abroad.
Visitors can look forward to an evening of authentic island tradition filled with music, dance and traditional costumes that reflect the cultural identity of Hvar and Dalmatia.
