Midsummer Scene: “One For All” brings a new adaptation of The Three Musketeers to Hvar Theatre

Dynamic English-language theatre performance at Hvar Theatre as part of the Midsummer Scene Festival

On Tuesday and Wednesday, July 7 & 8 at 9:30 PM, Hvar Theatre will host “Jedan za sve” (“One for All”), a new, witty and adventurous adaptation of The Three Musketeers, created especially for the Midsummer Scene Festival.

Written by Filip Krenus and directed by British director Sean Aita, the production reimagines Alexandre Dumas’ classic through comedy, live performance, music, and inventive stage action. The play is performed in English and lasts 90 minutes.

A playful and contemporary take on a literary classic

Told from the perspective of an ageing D’Artagnan who unexpectedly ends up imprisoned with a travelling acting troupe, the performance blends swashbuckling adventure with theatrical humour and fast-paced storytelling.

Sword fights become imaginative stage battles using everything within reach, from sticks, bread, props, and even the audience, transforming the stage into a lively and interactive theatrical playground.

As in previous Midsummer Scene productions, international actors and creatives collaborate with Dubrovnik artists, continuing the festival’s signature blend of local atmosphere and international theatre energy.

“The musketeers ride again – not as legend, but as living theatre.”
