Lucija Marin: Collected Memories | An Artistic Chronicle of Memory, Time and Everyday Life

On Monday, June 15 at 8:30 PM, Hvar Loggia will host the opening of “Collected Memories”, an exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Lucija Marin.

This long-term artistic project explores the relationship between personal memory, everyday experiences and the ways we document our lives. Through a unique installation developed over the past eighteen years, the artist reflects on memory, transience and archiving in the contemporary digital age.

About the Artist

Lucija Marin (born 1995, Zagreb) is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, site-specific installations, video, painting and ready-made objects. Her practice investigates the relationships between personal and collective memory, nature, impermanence and the impact of consumerism on the environment.

She graduated in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2020. Her work has been presented in more than 40 group exhibitions and 9 solo exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, including “Golden Watermelon 9.0” at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Istria, the Drava Art Biennale, “Situacija” at the 35th Youth Salon, “RE: Regionally Extinct” at Oris House of Architecture and “Archaea” in Ferentino, Italy.

Memories Preserved Through Receipts

The project “Collected Memories” has evolved since the artist was twelve years old through the continuous collection and preservation of personal receipts.

Each receipt serves as a tangible memory, recording decisions, needs, habits and everyday experiences. Fingerprints, coffee stains, traces of rain and signs of wear transform these ordinary objects into intimate historical documents.

The installation explores the tension between archiving and erasure, the physical and the digital, and the natural process of remembering versus its technological automation. The result is an analogue time capsule within a reality increasingly shaped by digital storage and data preservation.
