Klapa Pharia Concert | An evening of traditional Dalmatian klapa singing
When: Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 9:30 PM
Where: Square in front of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Hvar
Klapa Pharia was founded in January 2016 on the island of Hvar, inspired by a shared love of klapa singing and community spirit. The group’s name comes from the ancient Roman name for the island of Hvar, Pharia, paying tribute to the rich cultural heritage of their homeland.
Although based in Brusje, the members come from different parts of the island, contributing to the diversity and richness of their musical expression. The klapa performs traditional a cappella Dalmatian songs, as well as spiritual and secular arrangements and songs accompanied by instruments.
Over the years, Klapa Pharia has performed at numerous concerts and cultural events, including independent concerts in Brusje, the presentation of a book by academician Jakša Fiamengo, and klapa festivals such as “Večer od kantonja” in Stari Grad, “Susret klapa otoka Hvara” in Vrboska, and the “Festival otočkih klapa” in Supetar.
The group has also performed internationally, appearing in Slovenia, Germany and Italy.
Klapa Pharia regularly participates in the Hvar Summer Festival, enriching the island’s cultural programme while preserving the tradition of Dalmatian klapa singing.
