One of the most distinctive and influential artists of the Croatian music scene, Josipa Lisac, will perform in Hvar as part of the Hvar Summer Festival.
With her unique interpretation, unmistakable voice and artistic authenticity, Josipa Lisac has spent decades redefining the boundaries of Croatian popular music, creating a remarkable body of work that blends pop, rock, jazz and theatrical expression.
She began her musical journey as a child in the Zagreb Radio Television Children’s Choir before joining the Zagreb rock bands O’Hara and Zlatni akordi in the late 1960s. Her solo career officially began in 1969 with a performance of Arsen Dedić’s song “Što me čini sretnom” at the Opatija Festival.
A defining influence on her artistic development was her collaboration with Karlo Metikoš, with whom she created the legendary 1973 album “Dnevnik jedne ljubavi” (“Diary of a Love”), considered one of the most important albums in Croatian popular music history.
Throughout her career, she released numerous acclaimed albums including “Hir, hir, hir”, “Lisica”, “Boginja”, “Život” and “Živim po svome”. Audiences especially remember songs such as “O jednoj mladosti”, “Magla”, “Danas sam luda” and “Gdje Dunav ljubi nebo”.
Beyond her music, Josipa Lisac is celebrated for her original visual style and artistic freedom, which have secured her a unique place in the cultural landscape of the region for decades.
She has received numerous awards and honours, including the Porin Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.
