The Hvar Choir was founded in 1947 under the name of the City Mixed Choir, as one of the sections of the Dr. Orest Žunković Cultural and Artistic Society. Since its foundation, it has been performing continuously in the country and abroad. For its 50th birthday, it deservedly received the Hvar City Award with a gold plaque for dedicated work and enrichment of cultural events in the city.
The choir regularly performs in front of the citizens of Hvar and tourists during the summer season, nurturing traditional Dalmatian and sacred compositions. It also participates in various concerts and festivals, including the Hvar Summer Events.
The artistic director of the choir is Prof. Anna Sansović, who with her professional leadership contributes to the high quality of performances and the preservation of the musical tradition of the island of Hvar
