“Deus Machina” Exhibition | An artistic exploration of humanity and artificial intelligence
When: Monday, August 17, 2026 at 9:00 PM
Where: Arsenal Gallery, Hvar
The painting cycle “Deus Machina” explores contemporary questions surrounding the development of artificial intelligence and self-aware systems, opening a space for reflection on the relationship between humanity, technology and the future of civilization.
In a time marked by rapid technological progress, but also by a declining interest in knowledge and the development of skills, the exhibition examines the dual perception of artificial intelligence, the collective fear of AI dominance over humanity, but also the hope that AI may become a solution to some of society’s greatest challenges.
“Deus Machina” symbolizes both a possible beginning of the end and a potential salvation of humanity. The cycle reflects on a moment in which humans may no longer be the most intelligent beings on the planet.
Through eight oil paintings on canvas, the artist explores the idea of artificial intelligence embodied in physical form as the next stage of technological evolution and a possible new form of consciousness.
The creative process combines artificial intelligence tools and graphic techniques with the traditional medium of oil painting, creating a dialogue between contemporary technology and classical artistic practice.
Each painting offers a visual interpretation of the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence, reflecting fears, aspirations and philosophical questions concerning the future of humanity.
By merging the timeless medium of oil on canvas with concepts of technological futurism, the exhibition encourages introspection, dialogue and reflection on the implications of the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.
