Damirov Django Group brings an evening of outstanding gypsy jazz and musical virtuosity dedicated to the legacy of legendary Croatian guitarist Damir Kukuruzović.
Damir Kukuruzović, one of Croatia’s most prominent jazz guitarists and the country’s leading representative of Django Reinhardt’s musical tradition, left a remarkable mark on both the Croatian and international jazz scene. His Django Group, founded in 2005, became a regular presence at major festivals and concert stages across Croatia and abroad.
Kukuruzović was celebrated for his exceptional virtuosity, musical sensitivity and ability to combine technical brilliance with deep emotional expression through gypsy jazz.
Over the years, he collaborated with internationally acclaimed musicians including Stochelo Rosenberg, Robin Nolan, Angelo Debarre, Ludovic Beier, Paulus Schäfer, Wawau Adler, Joscho Stephan, Gismo Graf and many others.
Their final album, “Smile”, released in 2021, featured renowned guest musicians such as Robin Nolan, Gismo Graf, Sinan Alimanović and Paulus Schäfer.
Following Kukuruzović’s untimely passing in 2020, the ensemble continued performing under the leadership of violinist Bruno Urlić, one of the group’s founding members, carrying on the spirit and musical legacy of gypsy jazz as Damirov Django Group.
