Aljoša Jurinić
Praised as an “astonishingly subtle and visionary pianist” with a “rare blend of charm and mastery,” Croatian pianist Aljoša Jurinić has established himself as a laureate of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions. After winning the International Robert Schumann Competition in 2012 in the composer’s hometown of Zwickau, he became a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition in 2016 and the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2018, as well as a finalist at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2015.
Aljoša has performed as a soloist and with orchestras on prominent stages in more than 35 countries across five continents, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Wiener Musikverein, Salle Cortot in Paris, Gasteig in Munich, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, Osaka Symphony Hall, La Sala Verdi in Milan, BOZAR in Brussels, the Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, and many others. In addition, he has undertaken several tours as a soloist with orchestra and with solo recitals in China and Japan.
His discography includes five albums featuring works by Chopin, Schumann, and Debussy. His penultimate album, Correspondances (2020) for KNS Classical, was followed by a recording of Chopin’s sonatas, released in March 2025. Aljoša is also a sought-after chamber musician and has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Kian Soltani, Luka Šulić, and Petrit Çeku, among others. In 2019, the President of Croatia awarded him the Order of the Star of Danica for outstanding achievements in culture and the international promotion of his country.
Aljoša’s artistic development has been shaped by renowned pianists and pedagogues in Croatia, Austria, Italy, Germany, and Canada, where he has recently successfully completed his doctoral studies at the University of Toronto. He currently lives in Boston, USA, and is a visiting artist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Immersion Lab, where he collaborates on research projects exploring the biomechanics of piano playing.
