Balkans International Wine Competition 2026 | Hvar, Croatia

The 15th Balkans International Wine Competition will be held in Hvar, Croatia, from 27-31 May 2026, celebrating 2,400 years of wine tradition in a UNESCO-listed landscape.

The island of Hvar will host the 15th edition of The Balkans International Wine Competition 2026, one of the most significant wine events in the region.

As one of the oldest wine-growing regions in Europe, with more than 2,400 years of viticulture tradition, Hvar represents a perfect blend of history, expertise and passion for wine. By selecting Hvar as the host destination, the competition further highlights the connection between wine, culture and people within an authentic Mediterranean setting.

During the five-day programme, winemakers and wine professionals from 12 countries will present outstanding wines, exchange experiences and discover the rich wine, gastronomic and cultural heritage of the island of Hvar.

Wine judging sessions will take place from May 27 to 29 in Jelsa, followed by a series of wine and gastronomic events in Hvar and Stari Grad.

For the past fifteen years, The Balkans International Wine Competition has successfully promoted Balkan wines on the global wine scene. This year’s edition also introduces a new distinction, the Platinum Medal, awarded to wines receiving 96 points or more.
