This year, Hvar celebrates 158 years of organized tourism, an anniversary that highlights its important role in the history of European tourism.

On May 15th, 1868, the Hygienic Society was founded in Hvar, the first organization of its kind in Europe, marking the beginning of organized tourism on the island of Hvar and in Croatia.

To celebrate this important occasion, a special program for residents and visitors will take place on Friday, May 15th.

Free Storytelling Tour

Visitors will have the opportunity to join a free storytelling tour featuring fascinating stories about the history of Hvar and the city’s rich cultural heritage.

HVARMONY Duo Concert in the Center of Hvar

The evening program continues with a concert by the HVARMONY duo, adding a special atmosphere to the celebration of 158 years of organized tourism.
